Health Insurance

posted 29th Oct
OK, I have to turn in my request for health insurance by the 2nd. I didn't get much advice last time I posted so I think I'll try one more time...low premium, high deducible OR high premium, low deductible? No big health issues and we voted no on trying for another baby unless we get an awesome tax return (in which we'd use towards our deductible).

High premium, low deductable. I just paid off my 2500$ lower deductible and it sucked, I much rather would pay more monthly.

I look at it this way, if something DID happen, the deductible is $3,000 for the FAMILY so that's not too bad and I could make payments and then pay it off at tax season or whatever if it wasn't paid off by then OR I could kind of struggle and have a higher monthly premium which I could wing if it seemed like the better idea. BUT, being we have no health issues to worry about, I am super torn on what to do.

I guess because I have a lot of health issues, I hated that my deductible was so high this year.

I mean, if everyone thinks it's super smart to have a higher premium, by all means, I'll find a way to fit it into our budget, but the other part of me says no major health issues,....should i throw away all of that money on higher premiums if nothing happens ya know?

We've had the low premium high deductible this year and haven't had ONE issue to be in the doctor over AT ALL. So we've got a health savings account of almost $600 sitting around saved..

Id choose a higher deductible we rarely go top the doctors and when we do we go to the clinic which is only 45 out of pocket

Since you said you have no health problems at all so much better to stick with the plan you are used too. You have to weight everything in both choices so goodluck in making a good decision.
