How do you keep it together with 2 kids?

posted 29th Oct
I know it may seem silly but I am wondering how do the moms with 2+ kids keep it all together?

How do you keep your children bathed and yourself? How do you not loose yourself and still stay in love with your husband?

Do I dare ask how some work with 2 kids?

I am debating having my 2nd. I am afraid becuase my life seems overwheliming as it is. I dont want to bite off more than I can chew so to speak.

My son is 4 now, my husband and I have been together 3 years. Sometimes I work 8/9 days with a one day break in between. His job is more consuming and he easily works 50 hours/week.

I assume all domestic responsiblity inside the home, he does outside (mowing and cleaning the pool etc).

I am so happy he is ready to have another child, I am just afraid of the worst possible scenario.

I have two. I do volunteer work, go to school full time, and still considered to be a "stay at home" mom. I want you to know it's possible. You may struggle at first, but what really helps is to get a routine down.

Well I am a single mom of 3 girls, I work and do some home school. I also make diaper cakes and girls tutu dresses from home. lol

I usually shower ever night at 3am, just before bed, and I usually soak in the tub every morning at 10 am while lo 8.5 months old play in the crib in her room.

My older two kids are 10 and 4 yr old. So they are both in school all day. I am on parental leave atm, till dec 15th.

I find my daily routine pretty easy at home. I do the cooking with my 10 yr old we all do chores in the week, I do homework with them etc....I dont know how we do it, but we do   lol

Well I just glue everything together. I suggest gorilla glue...takes a while to dry, but you get a good strong hold. ;)
lol
You just make it work.
I use dry shampoo often these days, seeing as I only get to have a REAL shower like 2 times a week. DD ignores me for her buddies, the phone, her computer, her video games ect anywho, and Hubby works and when he comes home he's basically useless...rofl. So essentially I have a baby, I'm a single mom, and I cook for 3 people....I'm not sure where all this laundry is coming from....

I also want to add, that you make time for yourselves. I mean, I just take showers at night now, because that works better for me and my family. I also don't get bombarded with the kids, so I can take it in peace. lol. I also spend quality time with my husband...after the kids go down to bed, watch a movie, cuddle, and talk.

I have two 16 month olds. How do you keep your children bathed and yourself? Well, after dinner, they have bath time. I bathe them together. 1 sits in the tub & plays while the other gets washed, then the clean one plays while I wash the other. I shower after I put them to bed.

How do you not loose yourself and still stay in love with your husband?
I put them to bed at least 5 hours before SO & I go to bed, and he is still at work, so by time he gets home, the kids are already in bed... Unless it's his off day, he doesn't even see the children. When he gets home from work, we snuggle on the couch & watch a movie, every night. Honestly, I feel like we're more in love now, than before kids.

Do I dare ask how some work with 2 kids? I don't do that. Day care would rip me a new one if I did.

Make a schedule, routine whatever you want to call it and stick with it.

I haven't been able to find a job myself yet, but I have two both under the age of 3 with a 2.5 year age difference between them. It is by no means easy, but it is very possible to keep up with them and yourself.

right now I work and do use a wonderful preschool but as a result I am paying easily 1200/month.

My husband said he wants me to be able to stay home if I get sick when we get pregnant and he would like for me to stay home for an extra year after the baby is born.

Again, I am excitied.

Its just worrysome to me becuase right now we are making alot of money/month and somehow he still manages to stress over it.

Take my income out of the picture and IDK.. what would happen.

I have been usingthe same daycer for 10 yrs, they are awesome and this lo when I returnto work will start at 10.5 months instead of 1 month like her older sisters lol

I have a 9m old and a 2 yr old. I work with an hour total commute and DH works full time also with a 2 hours total commute we work over lapping shift.
2+ kids keep it all together?
with a lot of love and teamwork

How do you keep your children bathed and yourself?
I bath them right after dinner then we cuddle, read a book or they watch pajanimals while I do dishes and then I shower right after I put them in bed so it'll be out of the way incase its a rough night and they're up a lot.

How do you not loose yourself and still stay in love with your husband?
A lot of work. I see him pretty much every other weekend. We send each other silly texts and postcards in the mail, we also get each other little gifts delivered, we write each other notes/letters. The time we do have together we savor every moment since it's few and far between.

I get up in the morning and go to work. DH gets them their breakfast and gets them dressed then the nanny will come he goes to work then I get home and do bath and dinner. It's no harder with 2 then it is 1 for us.

Some days I would LOVE to have a job, just for the adult interaction... But daycare would be over 800/month... The best job I could get here I'd only make 1200/month, working 40 hours a week! I really couldn't justify only bringing home 400 a month, after daycare. I'd still have gas to work, clothes for work (my mommy clothes aren't "professional"), the boys would lose their insurance & WIC... Yikes.

Ya it can be pricey lol

well the other 2 are in school full time now first yr kinder and grade 6 this yr for the other one, so when Chloe hits daycare in Dec, it will be about 10.00 a day for her. So it wont be that bad at all. lol

I am a single mom (and I mean NO help from the sperm donor) of three kids. 5, 3 and 5 months, and work a full time job. I find it much easier to shower after everyone is sleeping and I do at least one load of laundry a night, always wash the dishes ASAP. And I keep the bathroom clean. You don't have to fret over having the house spotless(come on now you LIVE there and you have a kid/children... people will understand)

And I make sure I get a few hours to myself a month. I always find that I don't know what to do when they aren't around because we are always with each other. And since I don't see my oldest much because she is in school full-time, I let her stay up later on the weekends so we can spend time together doing girly stuff.

2 children is a breeze once you get the first few weeks under your belt!!! GO FOR IT AND GOOD LUCK!
