I think I bought 2 boxes and about 5 big packs of nb diapers for dd, she was 7 lbs 12oz and was in them for 2 1/2 months. When we ran out of those I just went to size 1 but they were still a little big.

My DD only used 96 newborn diapers. We bought one big package before she was born and afterward we bought a box of 1's. She was under 8lbs at birth, but is now closer to (or over lol) 10lbs.

Keep in mind that your baby's weight is only one determining factor in what size diaper he will wear. If he's long and thin, short and chunky, etc. then that will play into which diapers he'll do better in. Also, how rapid or slow he gains weight and height. I had one baby that was in newborns for more than a month, but every other baby has gone to size 1's within the first month. You just never can tell.

Wait, what? $1.70 per diaper?

I pay less than 20 cents each for huggies.

we just made the switch as well. After buying for my son 2 years and for my dd for 8 months we have spent way to much on diapers lol. I am making 8 bum genesis one size work right now and at the first of the month I am making an order of 12 sun babies I can't wait

I'm switching to cloth as soon as possible, too. I had planned on it from the beginning, but we had to return the washer and dryer we were renting-to-own. Thankfully, our apartments rent out washers and dryers for half the price we were paying the rental place. So once we get that all squared away, I can make an order for some cloth diapers. I can't wait! Honestly, every time I throw a diaper in the trash, all I can see is cash being thrown directly into the bin.

On a side note, for moms who are sticking with disposables, Costco is a great bargain for diapers. The Kirkland Signature brand is pretty much exactly like Huggies and they end up running about 18 cents per diaper.

My DD weighed the same as yours at birth...and she's been in size 1 since she was a week and a half old lol. It's amazing how different babies are shaped, just like adults! I could wear a size 10 jeans and weigh the same as my mom and she could be in an 8. You just never can tell until you actually have the baby in front of you which diapers and clothes are going to fit and for how long. My DD wears plain white Gerber onesies in size 0-3 months, but they're getting small on her already. Yet, the colored onesies with the prints and embroidery (same brand, mind you) in size 0-3 months are still pretty loose on her and will probably fit for awhile. Some newborn clothes are way too small on her now, and others still fit (and are quite roomy) in the same size. So weird lol.

yea it is weird she has tiny hips and waist and is pretty long. when we bought our 8 bg diapers I have them snapped on the smallest setting and they fit pretty good but she was wearing size 3 disposables. which was weird lol I had the same problem with the clothes. She is in 6-9 month clothes but some brands are bigger or smaller on her and I put 12 month outfit on her the other day. It just really depends on the shape of the child.
