re: getting my daughters ears pierced

posted 29th Oct
We got DD's ears done at walmart with the guns.
They double teamed her, but she screamed bloody murder.
That was over 6 months ago, and her piercings are crooked, and her right ear got horribly infected.
I would really suggest taking her to a tattoo/piercing parlor where you know that they are trained to do their job, and the needles are sterilized.

No matter which you choose, be sure to keep them clean w/o removing them and twist the earrings a few times daily to keep the risk of infection down.

That really is a horrible idea.

well the people at ours have been very good and i've been going there for years   i guess it depends on where you go.

Quoting VERONICA. MOM OF 6:" All my girls was done at Wal-mart, they use disposable guns and they drew dots where the holes would ... [snip!] ... not even on both sides, and to add insult to injury, it got infected and now I have small titties on the backs of my ears. "

Yea, I remember them putting dots on my ear before they shot the gun. They asked my mom what she thought before I got the earrings put in. I'm pretty sure they are sharp earrings for piercing not the dull kind for after you have holes. I think getting gold earrings and following the aftercare is most important.

The link could be wrong. Personally I'd go to the store to take a look at them. If they have a sharp end then obviously they aren't dull. It could end up crooked but I mean even that could happen with a needle.

correct it is always important to follow the after care no matter which she chooses.
yes, we got the 14k gold piercing earrings and did the proper care. No infection, no problems

No need for eye rolling. It's not that serious. Lets just all agree to disagree. The poster will choose what is best for her family, no matter what we all say.

It is because there is risk of transmission of HIV, hep C, other infections, scars, etc

That is a risk with both needles and guns if they are both reused.... Wal-Mart uses disposable guns, so her daughter would be the only person to ever be pierced with it.
