It WORKS. I did that when I was pregnant with my son! Then, when we found out my sister in law was pregnant, she tried it and WORKED AGAIN.

If it's a boy it'll fizz up and have foam like a beer would, or a shaken soda. If it's a girl then it should only fizz like a sprite or ginger ale would.
