Thanksgiving

posted 29th Oct
Is just over 3 weeks away.

Someone help me. I'm having it at my house, but super early in the day (like.. noon). I've never made a turkey before. How early do you think I'll need to put it in the oven?
Also, do you just throw it in a roasting pan and let it go to town? Or do you season/marinade/whatever it?

you def need to season it. We fry ours and it is amazing! You can watch some youtube videos of how to cook a turkey. If you are going to bake it I would brine if before hand

I seasoned mine with creole seasoning and injected it with melted butter. Then put it in the pan for however long.

My husband's butthole friend told me to get a 30 lb turkey. I found out later that he was joking

Like.. bake it inside of a brown paper bag? Wouldn't that get nasty?

If I roast it - I separate the skin from the meat and slide in herbed butter, stuff the cavity with onions, a lemon, carrots and celery. I make the stuffing separately.

If I spatchcock - I brush the bird in olive oil with sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper. I make the stuffing separately.

Depending on the size of your turkey depends on when you should put your turkey in. Oh! And what time you want dinner to be. I usually put my 20lb turkey in first thing in the morning to have it for our late lunch since we have my MIL dinner to attend to. I know a bit overkill on thanksgiving, but we have leftovers to make turkey sandwiches YUUUUMM! Plus, we never take MILs leftover...she has none lol. There's at least 4 different families that attend her dinner lol

We need it ready by 1. IDK what size to get.. haha. But we do the same thing every year. We have 3495839485 places to go - but we do immediate family at our house. I've just never done the turkey before!

Do you have an idea how many family members will be attending? That'll help you with the size of your turkey. I usually assume my family members are going to get seconds + may want leftovers= size of bird

Thanks! It will be a very busy week! Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, amnio then hopefully a baby.

And thanks for the tip! Now I'm feeling ambitious and thinking I may have DH fry it.
