5 month old sleep regression?

posted 29th Oct
My son is now 5 months old and used to sleep through the night at 2 and 3 months old..Starting at 4 months old he started waking up every 2 -3 hours I thought to eat...but only eats 3 oz's and falls right back to sleep>>? Last night he actually slept through the night again *well a whole 6hour stretch* He is cutting teeth as well, already has 1 tooth.. He is 20 lbs *massive baby* so not sure if this is yet another growth spurt or if he just wants to cuddle every 2 hrs? Please help..any ideas?? Sorry little spacey today he slept but I thought he was going to wake up so I still awoke and was ready to feed him, lol.!! *ps..bottle feeding**and had to be rocked *walking rock* to be put back down..for naps and bed..so most definitely exhausted here. thank you all in advance

Just wanting to make sure it's normal and not a sleeping issue..Thinking teething and wet diaper are the issues..lol. thank you for responding!! Hope your little one starts to sleep through the night again for you, broken sleep is rough!

It is normal. My little man is still teething, so I blame the sleeping issue on it. Hope yours starts sleeping better soon too.

I thought I would jump on here and share a couple of thoughts with you. I so remember being thankful when my boys started sleeping through the night. It can be frustrating when our little ones go backwards instead of forward with waking up more and sleeping less instead of more consistently. You are right about there probably being a connection with a growth spurt or teething. That seemed to be the case with my sons. I am one of those people who needs sleep and when I don't get enough of it, I am not too fun to be around. LOL!

You may be interested to know that I have found great parenting and marriage advice on the Focus on the Family website. Many moms like me found it to be very useful. It just so happens that they have a FAQ -- "how can we encourage our baby to sleep through the night?" You just need to find their home page and go to the bottom of the screen to the FAQs and click on that. You can type "sleep through the night" in the search box and the answer should pop up. I hope you find it helpful. I sure did!

Hang in there, mom!

I will be praying for you and your family!

Thank you so much I will be checking that site out today!   Still no improvement, he had 2 nights total where he slept through the night from 7-3   He did pop 2 bottom teeth recently within weeks of one another. (both before the 6month mark) and now I'm unsure of what the issues could be   But I do appreciate all of your help   thank you so much!!
