This hurts SO bad...anyone else?

My last MP was in December of 2011. I had my Son on September 4th of this year. The last few mornings I've been waking up feeling sick to my stomach. Last night when I went to bed I was having terrible SHARP pains in my lower left side, and this morning my entire lower stomach is cramping...BAD. I get these random sharp "stab" pains in my back. My hips and legs are hurting and I've been feeling pretty over emotional the last few days. Does this sound like I might be about to get my MP? Is it common for it to be this bad the first period after you have a child? My MP always sucks, but never this bad. I'm just hoping that's what it is, and that I don't have anything else going on.

After you have baby you're particularly hormonal so sometimes the first pp period could be extra obnoxious. Are you breastfeeding?

If by MP you mean your period then yeah, it's normal. I remember my doctor told me from your hormone drop that your upcoming periods and ovulation are going to be more painful then usual.
I'm 18 months PP and I still get some sharp stabbing pains in my side when I ovulate, but the pain is far less then what it used to be.
If the pain is too much to handle I would talk to you OB. Mine recommended birth control with hormones to help with the chemical side of it and it would lessen the pain.
