babies r us does a turn in event where you can turn in old baby gear and get a 25% off coupon for another piece of equipment like a stroller or something.

Me personally I would just throw it out I would NEVER use a used car seat on my children and don't want to condone it either.

If it hasnt been in a crash or expired its still prefectly safe. It's still got a year, is it a newborn seat? Im sure someone will be able to get use out of it in that year.

This. I take people's crappy stuff too so that I know kids aren't using it and I turn it in.

Usually I wouldnt either, but if it was from someone who I know, so I know for sure it hasnt been in a crash, and it isnt expired, then whats wrong with that?

I threw mine out, my former father-in-law is a cop and really stressed that the newer ones are always safer. He said he hated fatalities in car accidents with infants/children and he never wanted that responsibility or guilt if it was an expired car seat that was used for those children.

That's a great idea!! I might just do that. Great way to save money on things we need!!

That's kind of how I felt about it. I don't want to sound like a snob or anything, but I would rather fork out the money and buy my kids new seats (which I have) but I was just thinking of those in need.. You just never know.. some people might be desperate, but I wouldn't want them to use it past the expiration and compromise the safety of their child. I take great care of my kids gear so I wouldn't be giving away a crappy item.

I gave my infant seat to my best friend but since it only has a year left I would just do the trade in at BRU.

Nothing, if you wanted to use it. I was answering this question as if it were me personally. I would never, even if it was a good friends old car seat. I didn't say there was anything wrong with it for other people.

It is a newborn seat. It's in perfect condition... I just have no use for it and won't be able to use it before it expires. I think i'm going to take it to babies r us and trade it.
