Idk why someone would want a sexy native American costume. That's just strange to me.

I don't think it's at all racist. They make any costume you can think of nowadays sexy. It's not like they only picked out Native Americans to do this with.

Seems about right for Halloween.

I don't see how anyone could think it's racist.

Someone's gotta get thicker skin, IMO.

Shall we pull all the military and police and fire-fighter and sumo wrestler, etc, costumes because of their inaccuracies as well?

I find it inappropriate. I'm Creek.
Then again, I hate Columbus day as well.
I suppose it may be different for me because of some of the things that I went through when I was younger. Maybe it's made me more sensitive.

I'm anti Columbus Day as well. My class doesn't celebrate it like the other classes do but the costume is meh. My tribe didn't wear feathers in their hair lol

The men in our tribe do wear feathers. Also when I was 11 years old some of the white people in town burned down my mom's smoke shop and then stood on the road between us and laughed. Nothing was ever done about it. So I'm a bit sensitive about this stuff.

There's definitely racism here but I just teach my kids tolerance and don't harbor the unjust that's happened. I'm sorry that nothing was done about your moms smoke shop.

It is really inappropriate. Read some of the blogs on this. http://nock-knock.tumblr.com/post/34539114736/the-annual-halloween-psa-to-moniyaw-who-didnt-learn

It is about as historically offensive as dressing up as Hitler and a Jewish prisoner. It is perpetuating a stereotype that deeply offends people. Read this blog http://nativeappropriations.blogspot.co.nz/2012/10/so-you-wanna-be-indian-for-halloween.html#more

It shouldn't matter if you don't 'get it' it is not your culture to represent. If you are asked to not do do it, don't because it genuinely reduces someones values about their own identity or reminds them of past and present ignore injustices. It may mean little to you or you may get angry because you should be allowed to do as you please, but think critically about why people say it is offensive. It is not empty rhetoric.
