Azithromycin causing yeast infection

posted 28th Oct
My kids are on antibiotics do to one of our kids having whooping cough. This is his last day of antibiotics and he's 9months old he has a red rash in between his leg and balls and on his leg. Can this be a yeast infection caused by the antibiotics every where I read said it can cause "vaginal" yeast infections

Yes!! I am on the z-pak right now...and no yeast infection yet. But other antibiotics have given me yeast infections.

YEP!!!! It does. It's such a strong antibiotic. I knew the moment my son started getting a bad rash that it was a yeast one. If diaper rash cream isn't working and it's just getting worse, it probably is. You don't have to go to the doctor for it. I just went to the drug store and bought some Lotrimin AF Antifungal Jock Itch. It cleared it up within a few days but his was REALLY bad before we got it. Go to walmart and buy the off and you will save so much. I actually saw it for 88 cents there. Just make sure it has the same active ingredient which is clotrimazole. Here is a link to exactly what I bought and it didn't burn. I made sure to rub it in during every diaper change and really well at night. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=25768&catid=195678&aid=338666&aparam=25768

But if its cracked and it starts to bleed because its so bad, then you should probably go to the doctor. But if its just welpy and a little dry (which is normal) then just get the lotrim. Once it starts bleed and becomes an open wound it can lead to infection and then a doctor does need to check it out.

I was sceptical at first for sure but it worked great!!
