Advice on neighbor spreading rumors?

There is a woman in the next condo complex spreading rumors about my SO. She doesn't seem like a nice girl. She's always yelling at the kids outside for playing near the grass in front of her window. She constantly gives dirty looks to everyone and has this bad vibe about her. But, I'm not judgmental, like her, and just ignore it and move along.

She told a few of our neighbors that he is a drug dealer because we bought a new car last year (my old car got totaled and I bought the car, not him), he walks a carriage around late at night (in the summer the only way LO would fall asleep is by being walked in her carriage), he plays with the kids outside too much (SO takes my 3 year old outside to play with the neighborhood kids because we won't let her go outside alone) and because he smokes cigarettes outside. She's a smoker too so I don't get what that has to do with anything .... She also said since he's always around the little kids he must be selling to them. THEY ARE 3-8 years old. Why would anyone sell drugs to a 3 year old? It's just silly to me! I would take my daughter out to play but I have my son all day and I refuse to let her outside by herself.

I am baffled here. We barely make ends meet, let alone making a smurf ton of money from drug dealing. I have never even tried a drug. SO does smoke weed occasionally outside, late at night, when the kids are in bed, but that's it. He's never bought more than 10 bucks worth.

Her telling people this is really bothering me. I keep picturing her calling the cops or CPS because of her stupid thoughts. If she did, nothing would come of it because obviously no one sells drugs, but the thought of it still bugs me. It also bugs me that the neighbors might believe her or something.

Should I confront her or let it go?

I would confront the bitch.   That is annoying... And I would also be scared of her calling CPS. And if she did and they took it seriously you would both get drug tested.

Let it go. She's not doing any harm.

I would confront her. She needs to mind her damn business. She could really mess smurf up for you guys.

Eh, how long has it been going on? Honestly if she hasn't called yet I doubt she will. If you think she really believes this stuff i might confront her but if she's just being a bitch I would probably leave it alone.

as to her calling CPS, it takes a little more than a phone call from a busybody neighbour to get CPS on your ass
selling drugs to 5 year olds? that's hilarious. where would they even get the money?!

She sounds a little bat smurf crazy. No one would ever believe her if they listened to her reasoning. Just let it go, you don't know what she's capable of.

I would confront her about the accusations first? If she continues to give you problems, I would let her know you'll sue her for slandering your husband's name.

She told my neighbor last night. Well she said "why are you always outside talking to that drug dealer" referring to my SO. My neighbor told her she was crazy and doesn't know what she's talking about. I guess then she said the next time she sees my SO she's going to "go off" on him. I have no idea what her problem is. I don't even know her.

All I know about her is she yelled at my daughter for playing in front of her window and told SO to "control your kids".

I would pass with flying colors, he wouldn't from the weed. What would they do in that instance?

that is what my landlord always told me that if we have any problems with our neighbors to call him that is why i said that

Sounds like she's just being a bitch, I would say leave it alone for now, especially if everyone else knows she's wrong.

I would let it go. Even if she does call CPS as long as you aren't doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about.
