Couldn't have said it better!

If used correctly, it would absolutely NOT violate human rights; it would protect them. I would be absolutely for it. It would prevent crimes and assist arrests and other human rights in such an epic manner.

How would this be handled exactly...every newborn would be legally required to hand over a DNA sample?

I had a homebirth in which we declined any physical testing involving needles. Families like mine would have their rights violated...
Also, as mentioned by a previous poster, DNA science is not perfect, plus there's room for human error.

I certainly can see the idealistic benefits of such a plan.

I don't see how it invades privacy. If you're not going to be breaking any laws, what's the big deal? Nothing to worry about.

Uh...ever heard of John Schneeberger? The phantom of heilbronn? What about innocent people who've been wrongly convicted because ofr planted evidence, you dint think the same thing would ever happen with DNA?

And would you be ok with the cops breaking down your dir and searching your house? Hey, if you're doing nothing illegal, no need to worry, right?

It should be a strictly volunteer basis.

That way, innocent people with nothing to hide can have it there to exonerate themselves if falsely accused, and people who won't submit samples will be in a pool of potential suspects purely by exclusion.

It would cut down a lot of the preliminary police work and make suspect pools easier to narrow down at the very least.
