Help?

posted 27th Oct
Dallas my son is 4 and hes in preschool, He was in it last year as well, they had him in a special needs classroom! Well they suggested that it would be better for him to be around "normal" kids , so we did that. Only thing is hes doing a 180 hes starting to go backwards I don't know how to explain it other than that. we have gone almost a year and half with out these horrible meltdowns that were from hell. I mean he still has them, but now they are becoming extreme! Hes starting to hurt himself again, Hes getting more angry, more hitting tords me and dad, and brother. He now will spit at people when hes mad if they try to clam him down or hit or throw something. This all started a month into the school year. I cannot handle this. I thought we were passed this.

We have a meeting TEN MINS. At his school on the 1st they don't have more then 10 mins they can give. Uhh. Its teachers with no speical training at all. He was suppose to be in school from 830 til 1130, but they have him coming in at 930 and leaving at 11 15. And I had to push for 11 15 cuz they wanted 11 am! I want him moved back into the special needs class room he was doing better! As horrible as this sounds, I cannot handle him going back to how he was 2 years ago. It would end me. Please help someone. He has "possible" autism, and SPD.

Intergration is what spec ed department strives for. And I have seen many cases where kids go part day.

Do you know who's in charge of his case? Try voicing concerns to them. Do you have an IEP or FCP?

He doesn't have a caseworker anymore, And I don't think his IEP counts anymroe since hes not in SN classroom right?

Also hes getting worse, I think it would be bad to keep him there if he keeps getting worse.

No it does. I worked as a 1:1 in a gen ed room and had to abide by his IEP still. I'd contact the special education department to set up an IEP meeting so his teacher will no how to better teach him. Some general ed teachers just don't know how to handle kids but there are resources around to help her.
