Really rude/mean people regarding being a single mom?

I mean, some people come off as slightly rude about it ("Oh, I'll pray for you, honey") but I see that as more of concern. What about TRULY bitchy, smurffy things being said to you about you/your kids and their absent father? Blaming you, belittling you, etc.

I mean, smurf. You can only NOT react to so much before it's like... yeah, you made your point, your kid's dad stuck around and is a good guy and my ex is a pos. THanks for pointing out what is obvious. Now eff off.

I don't bitch about him on FB. I don't bitch about him IRL. I don't say smurf about him unless I'm talking to my dad or my BFF and then it's more of, "this just happened, oh crap, what should I do?!" so... yeah.

I just don't deal with them. It bugged me for awhile and now I'm like yeah whatever. It just means ill get twice the love, hugs and kisses. I get to make all the major decisions and I get to make sure everything is done right.

If its about my child being raised without a father figure I just say "Better no example then a bad one."

and if its implying that I cant raise her by myself I just say something along the lines of "Well its a good thing Im a good enough parent that she doesnt need two, isnt it?"

Those generally quiet them, but without being rude.
Although Im with someone now, but when my my daughter was a newborn I'd get comments here and there.

Yeah... in general I've never gotten anything that bad, but this is family. I can't really avoid her. I made it clear to my dad (not making a big deal out of it, just "I can't do this in front of my children, her texts are bad enough") that I can't be around her so to please let me know if she's going to be around when I am, but gah... still..

Oh my family tried to make me feel bad. I have a sharp tongue though and let them know that their comments 100% inappropriate and unnecessary. That was the end of that.

I ended it with, "if that's the best you can do, bye." To which she responded something like, "I just feel bad for you, I could do much worse."

And soooo I said, "If you cared or felt bad for me, you wouldn't have spent the past hour trying to make me feel so bad." And that was the end of it... tonight. It's been happening more and more, though. I just disengage and respond not meanly. I'm just SO sick of it.

It can be really difficult. People are really rude about it sometimes! My old boss laughed in my face about my son not having a father on Father's Day. That one really pissed me off. I went to HR and also told him I didn't appreciate him laughing about an innocent child not having a father on Father's Day. He was ashamed of himself.

people are just smurfing mean i had this one guy randomly write to me saying maybe if i put my ex fiance before my kids i probably wouldnt be a single mom right now im sorry that i chose for my kids have a roof over their heads and food on the table over being with a lazy pof smurf father who cared more about himself than his own kids

WOW, you guys, I am so sorry to hear you have to deal with that! Thankfully I have never really caught any flak. Well--I guess my super-religious (hypocrite type) neighbor did have some judgmental things to say once, but she's kind of an idiot anyway so I didn't really think twice about it.  

That's pretty much the last thing any of us need to deal with with all the other stuff we have going on. Hope you are all able to hold your chin up and know that you are doing right by your child--anyone else be damned.
