FUSSINESS HELP!

posted 28th May
Okay so my daughter is one month old and for the last 3 weeks she has been fussy pretty consistently from around 6 - 10 p.m. she doesn't cry constantly so I know it's not colic but she fusses A LOT. It's strange because she's fine the entire day until then. She cat naps during that time and then gets up and fusses. Anyone else experience this? Any advice is gladly accepted.

Try getting her on a schedule as best as you can. Swaddle her, give her something to suck on and if need be put her in a swing. My youngest nephew what a fuss budget. There was almost nothing that could be done to stop his crying. He had to be held all the time. About 3 months of age we started to let him cry it out for a bit in his swing. It was almost like he had a fear of being alone. he is good and cheery now at 11 yrs old.

My niece is fussy around the same time and it is because her tummy hurts from gas and bowel movements. She's on a pooping schedule  . Does it sound like a pain cry?

i've read that those are the crying hours.

if she's gassy she may be fussy because of that. the gas drops have pretty much stopped my daughter's "unexplained" crying.

how many total hours is she sleeping in a 24 hour period? i think up to 18 is normal at one month. perhaps she isn't getting enough naps and is becoming overtired and cranky.

But as another ladie said, you need to try and get her into a good schedule during the day, maybe? it helped with me but because I have had a dreamer staying at my house it has messed it all up,so I'm stuck with a crying babie during the day lol.

My daughter is on an excellent schedule during the day, sleeping for two hours, up for one. From the time she wakes up until her little fussing period. I would like her to sleep more, but she just doesn't. She isn't fussy at all during the day so I don't think it's gas, I mean, she eats the same food day in and day out. I am VERY careful with what I eat and I know it's not the formula. Her bowel movements have become regulated so I'm just not sure what it is. Over-stimulation maybe?

Mine is the same. I think it started when he was about 3 weeks old (he's 8 weeks old now). Same thing - fussy from about 6 - 10. Some days are better than others. I've also got him on a schedule and I've tried everything. Unfortunately, what works one day, doesn't work the next. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that he's over-tired and fussing because he can't fall asleep. His eyes just look like he's sleepy at this time and on good days, that's the time that he sleeps (well, from about 8pm). Aside from swaddling, here are some things I've tried (that work sometimes):
-putting him in his stroller and walking - preferably over a bumpy sidewalk
-hold him and walk around my kitchen in circles, bouncing gently
-put him in his bassinet and outside on the patio (fresh air does wonders)
-lie him on his side, like I'm going to BF and hold him
-lie him on my chest and say "sh" non-stop until he falls asleep
-lie him on my lap on his stomach
-walk up and down the stairs with him (I swear, he's intent on helping me lose weight)
-recently, his mobile distracts him
