sex after episiotomy
posted 27th Oct
Its been 3 weeks to the day since I had my daughter. My fiancé and I want to try to have intercourse but I'm not sure if its safe.
Please don't bash me for wanting to have sex so early.
I need honest advice.
How long did you ladies wait, or when do you think its safe to have sex after an episiotomy

I don't think you should. There's too big of a chance of you causing more harm to yourself, or getting an infection. I can almost guarantee it will hurt like a bitch with the epi wound anyway.

Honestly, they tell you to wait 6-8 weeks for a reason. Ive never torn nevermind having an episiotomy during a delivery and I still wait the recommended amount of time. It's just better to let your body heal as much as you can. And it's going to hurt the first time no matter what, why rush it?

I didn't have stiches or any tearing or anything and I waited till the six week check up for my doctor to okay it. A little bit of pleasure is not worth the health problems it could cause.

They tell you to wait for 6 weeks so you don't hurt yourself. Your vagina just pushed out a little human. Just wait a little bit more at least.

They didn't have to cut me, I just tore and was stitched back up. I tried having sex probably around 3 or 4 weeks, but it HURT, so I didn't follow through.

I had sex at two weeks PP with both kids but it hurt, not even gonna lie.

I have never had an episiotomy, or even stitches for that matter, but I was told to wait at least six weeks, I waited four and felt fine, as long as it wasn't to fast or rough, I dont know if not by not waiting you could hurt your self with the stitches not being healed up completely, I would probably wait a couple more weeks if I were you...but really its when ever you feel up to it, just be careful and don't do anything that feels to uncomfortable...

Honestly, i would wait a little longer. You got cut, and it probably isn't completely healed yet, so by having intercourse this early, you could risk ripping it back open. Not to mention, you are also risking infection.

It hurt me a little at 5 weeks PP and I didn't have any tears or stitches or an episiotomy (no idea what that is, lol) so I would say don't.

You don't wanna hear my story.
Nearly died.
Not worth it.

They cut your perineum so you dont tear.

I couldn't have sex comfortably until about 6months either but I didn't have any tearing or epi. No stitches. But I think it wS because of breastfeeding. The juice wasn't loose. Lol at 6months pp we discovered lub. Changed my life.
