For some reason, I cant get him out of my mind.

posted 27th Oct
Last night, at around 10-11pm, SIL's most recent ex-boyfriend was killed.
He and a friend were riding their bikes up a hill. A truck was coming up the other side of the hill, swerved to miss his friend, and ended up hitting and killing him instantly.
I only met this kid one time, and it was when SIL ran away from home with him a little over 3 months ago. As bad as it sounds, I don't even know why I care.
SIL told me today that the truck hit him so hard that he was mangled all to hell and they literally had to peel him out of the grill and the smurf underneath the car.
He was 18, and it's just like.. wow.
I've been thinking about him non-stop since I found out, and I don't know why, but it's depressing me.

because he was a young kid, and his was an awful and senseless death
you're depressed because that's the normal feeling to have when someone young and full of life dies needlessly, suddenly, senselessly.
i think it's because you're human

Wow that is so sad. Maybe just the fact that he was so young is depressing you. He never got to enjoy life. How is your SIL taking it?

Maybe. But Idk, I wasn't even this upset when someone I was friends with for years was hit and killed while walking down the street. And I only met him one time.
And she's pretty upset, but they both had already moved on and gotten with new people before this happened. But she's like.. freaked out? I guess. And upset. She has a pair of his pants lol.

Shut up.
Maybe because it was a funny memory, the way she ended up with them?

Good for you. I didn't post this so people could come in here and be stupid with me.
So if that's what your going to do, you can shut the smurf up and go.

Wasnt trying to be a bitch, jus sayin thats not how it read.

If it is cause it's a good memory, that's great that you have those of this person. I am sorry for what you're going through (and not trying to add to it, btw), and hopefully it gets easier with time. I know the feeling of feeling like someone that you weren't close to's death shouldn't bother you as much as it does, but I kinda agree with the person that said that it was possibly cause of the age and the fact that you knew him at all.

Either way, sorry for the harsh words, I really did take that the wrong way, and I hope that things get easier for you soon, and if not, that you find peace in the good memories that you do have with him.

VWS.

I appreciate how you apogized and offered support just now. Too many folks would rather be defensive to a fault.

OP, I was/am in a similar situation. This past May, a man that I had known for less than a year took his own life and I was a weeping, raging mess.

I'd only met him last summer, hung out for a week and after that we were Facebook friends. But his death was crushing.

Idk, maybe the violence of how your SIL's ex died? Getting hit by a car is one horrible thing , but needing a forensic excavation of the grill of a truck brings an extra horror to it. Plus his age, and that you and he had your SIL in common connects you somewhat.

And his friend... God. Talk about survivor's guilt:'-(.

I have a bracelet my friend wore, wearing it makes me feel close to him. Hopefully your SIL can be comforted the same way with the man's clothing.

I got that way with a guy that died that I dated for three weeks too. It was such a short period of time and about 3 or 4 years later he got murdered in a senseless act of jealously. His ex-girlfriend came over to his house because she was scared of her current boyfriend. When her boyfriend came to get her , he stabbed the guy in the neck and ran kidnapped the girl. She was found and okay , but my friend died. It was horrible.

I think what bothered me so much about it was this is the first person that I knew in a real way my age that died. It really scared me and showed me how truly unstable life is. I still think about that guy a lot. I think about how he was an only child and how his parents hurt. I think about how great of a guy he was and how no other people will ever get to met him. Sad sad.

A. I apologized a day before you posted this. You really should read everything before you bitch.

B. Not that I'm saying I had a right to be rude, but seriously you're on the internet. "protected" is a joke. I admit, and already posted saying, that I was sorry. I mean, seriously, it was the last post before you said something, so I know you saw it. Grow up, and stop trying to open up drama that's already been resolved.
