Christmas

posted 25th Oct
Hi, I'm not a single mother but have a question for you ladies..

My SO's son lives across the country. My SO enjoys buying Christmas gifts for him but his son is getting older now and with the price of shipping, I think it's just better for SO to send some money to help BM out with buying gifts. As far as I know BM is fine with that and would probably rather her son get to pick the stuff he likes. SO is leaning towards that this year but thinks that BM will think he's lazy for not picking out presents himself (I've told him time and time again that I'm sure she doesn't mind picking the gifts up for him at all).

Anyway, I thought I would ask you ladies. Would you be okay with your child's father sending money for Christmas (for you to pick out the gifts) or would you rather actual toys?

Thanks Ladies

How old is his son? I would probably send a card with the money or gift cards to him personally. But to your question, I think sending money in general would be fine.

I'd be okay with my child's father sending any kind of money. I haven't received a dime from him.

Even if I did get regular child support I'd still be okay with him sendin money for Christmas.

I would send a gift card for a place that the child will like.

I kow it's not exactly the same... but it's sort of the same thing. My sister has 6 kids, and lives in a different state. It's been so long since I've spent time with the kids, I have no idea what they are in to these days (they keep growing too fast   ) so I normally deposit some money in to her bank, and he picks out presents for them, then wraps them up and says they are from me. She lets me know what she buys them before she gives them to the kids though. Works out pretty well.

He's 9 and that is what he does, puts the money in a card for him.
