What do you think of this dress?

I am needing to get a dress for a very special occasion I have coming up just after the holidays. I love the color red, and the cut of this dress just...wow. I love it. ABSOLUTELY love it. I ran it by my best friend, and she says it looks like it came out of the 1950s and she hates it...however, I have seen her out of jeans like, twice ever...and as much as I adore her, I'm not sure she's the best person to go to for fashion advice. What do you ladies think?

If you don't like it, please tell me why. If you have other suggestions, I'm MORE than open to hearing them.

As for body type, I've got a very hourglass shape - I measure 38-28-37. So I like clothes that compliment that (and make my ass not seem so smurfing huge.)

EDITED TO ADD - SO will be wearing his dress blues...so, if you're wanting to make other suggestions, please keep the colors of his uniform in mind.

I love it! You can't really go wrong with a mod cloth dress. That dress will look great on an hour glass shape.

I agree it looks a old fashioned... Not my style, but...cute. Certainly not sexy (IMO). Probably not something I'd wear for a "very" special occasion. What's the occasion and what's the dress "code"? Formal?

It's a wedding, I'll be meeting most of SO's family for the first time. He'll be wearing his dress blues, so I would consider it a formal occasion. He certainly doesn't get those out unless he has to lol

I LOVE ModCloth...I've ordered several items from them in the past and they are usually even better than I expect. So...yeah, it's my go-to site when I need to find something special to wear.
