Help! WWYD

posted 25th Oct
My LB is 6 months and he use to eat baby porridge fine until a couple of weeks ago (I started at 4 months) he suddenly started shutting his mouth and getting frustrated, if you make him smile and then put it in his mouth he'll eat it though. Any ideas? I don't know why he's done it he'll drink milk fine just not eat off of a spoon or anything.

What can I do?

The only food you mentioned in your post was the baby porridge, which does taste like smurf. Lol

I have tried everything to baby yoghurt, puréed food, the dried food, our food. You try to put anything near his mouth (spoon, food, finger) he'll close it tight and only open it for a bottle but he use to be fine now he's waling in the night about once every 1-2 hours and is having more bottles

Oh haha I meant that's all he use to eat and when he started doing it I tried to change it it to a fruit one which smelt amazing and he refused so did the whole range of taste and then the yoghurt and puréed stuff then our food and he won't have any of it, he just gets stressed and screams but if you make him laugh and put it in he'll eat it.

Sorry mama's!!

Do I just mash it in?

Any idea's how to get him to eat it? Once he seen's the spoon or feels it against his lifts he squeezes his lips together and won't let it in unless you surprise him and make him laugh and shove it in as he'll eat it then. But I don't want to force it and then traumatise him about his food

Is he teething? My son went through a stage of not eating when his first tooth came through (at 6 months), only lasted for a few days.

I just mixed the fruit with the cereal. Make sure its mashed/blended and like baby food.
Make him laugh and then put it in he will like the tatse and learn the spoon equals good tasting food !

He got his first two teeth at 5 months as they came through together and he was fine then but it's been nearly 3 weeks I think now and I don't know what to do =/

So he'll learn to like it like that then? It's just thrown me as he use to open his mouth willingly and sit with his mouth open waiting for food and now he wont have any of it. I just don't want him to grow up hating food cause I kinda forced it upon him lol

I was under the impression that you had only given him baby cereal, that's all you mentioned in the OP.
Sounds like teething, DD does that when she's cutting teeth.
