What do you REALLY need for baby?

posted 25th Oct
So I'm trying to get everything together for baby boy, and just had my baby shower. I still need some of the bigger items, but DH and I are going to get them soon! I honestly want to know, what do you ladies think that I'll REALLY need and not just what everyone tells you to buy lol. He is due in January so he will be a winter baby! Thanks ladies!

The biggest thing we got that I never really used was the changing table... Then again, with two babies, I didn't want to carry one to their room, fight to change him on it, then carry the other one to the room & fight to change him. It was so much easier just to keep diapers & wipes in the living room and change them on the couch.

Plenty of clothes, botttles, blankets, somewhere to sleep, carseat, diapers and wipes.

Things that come in handy
Swing, bounce seat, stroller, boppy.

I completely understand with twins that would be difficult! We bought one, but our living room is small, and when babysitting I've always hated changing them on the couch! lol.

We keep a diaper bag in the living room. That way diapers, wipes and spare clothes are right their.

My living room is the size of a normal bedroom! haha. They got to a point when they were a few months old & it was just a bitch to pick them up that high. lol SOs mom bought it for us, and it looked nice in the room, and I did use it a few times, but not enough for her to have spent the money on it.

Our entertainment center has cabinets on it, so one of them is stocked with diapers, wipes, diaper cream, etc.

Oh! Maybe it's just me that thinks it's small then lol. I understand what you're saying though, his room is going to be upstairs so I don't know how much I'm going to be up there using it anyway. I may end up doing what you did! lol.

Yeah I don't like walking up stairs, so I'd be screwed if I lived there. I would flip out if I had to carry a newborn up them.

Stroller
Car seat
Crib
Diapers
Wipes
Butt cream (vitamin cream, we have Bepanthen over here)
Bibs
Clothes (I bought too many - 2 weeks worth of outfits per age group is more than enough)
Socks, hats & mittens
Snowsuit (like an all-over coat to take them home/out in)
Boobies/breast pump/bottles & formula - whichever you plan on but I planned on breastfeeding which was impossible so I went on to pumping and bottles
Blankets
Pacifiers (if you plan to use them)
A baby bag with a foldable changing mat, a proper mat is pointless.

Maybe a couple of bright toys to look at but not essential. Everything else can wait really. I found baby bath things a waste of money and they grow out of them quickly.
