I agree... Being in a hospital can be the best thing but then it could be the worse. You need to force what you want.

I had my son at an amazing hospita., i'd never do a home birth..but that documentary made me feel terrible for having an induction..but the doctor felt it was necessary..so i listened..my son turned out fine, so im not gonna say i regret it..but i will question alot more next time i'm getting ready for birth.

Don't ever feel bad about listening to a doctor. I did too, twice. I don't regret it. But at the same time, my births weren't great. But I had one at a birth center and it was amazing. But then again it isn't for everyone it was just what I wanted.

I really liked the film and took a lot of the information to heart, but I think the anti hospital birth information was delivered poorly. I felt like a smurf mother for having to be induced and for having an epidural.

I am sorry. I don't feel bad about letting them use pitocin on me. But I know from experience I would never do it again. I did natural so no pain meds. But yeah each time I had a different experience.

That documentary is just one giant guilt trip for those who had had hospital births...grain of salt I say.
She's anti hospital so everything spoken about hospital births were obviously going to be negative to make her home birth impact more extravagant.
Not to mention when ricki lake had her kids it was a tad dated....things have changed..even within the past couple years...
So I agree that one should ALWAYS do your own research but I would never let such a bias documentary sway me one way or another...

If you had an IV or oxygen then you did not deliver naturally...

I had such an amazing birth expirence at my hospital that I would have never chosen a natural home birth over it for the anything lol.
I was induced, had an epidural, recieved oxygen at one point and was hooked to an IV. I delivered vaginally with zero issues and my daughter was born normally.
So it really just depends half the time...
Home births can also go horribly wrong..smurf happens. I just know I'd rather be in a hospital with a trained professional then at home when things do start to go bad...
