goddammit....

posted 24th Oct
Yeah, my four year old just said that. O.O He stepped on his tennis racket and goes "Oh, goddammit..."

I asked him where he heard that, but he couldn't tell me. He just said "Aiden just said it. Because I just stepped on my tennis."

Where the heck do they get this stuff from? He's always with me and I don't use that word ever.

Only thing I can think of is that DH wasn't paying attention and said it while he was playing video games? I know he's picked up a few exclamations from him before, like "What the crap" and "Shut up".

Good grief...

I'm gonna have a hard time not laughing when that happens to me. I know it's going to be upsetting but funny at the same time. My dad said that my first full sentence was "out of the way smurf!" while they were driving. My dad had horrible road rage and I had picked up on it

lol, yeah it's still considered a curse word   I mean, you wouldn't say it if you were in polite company.

I have the hardest time not laughing when he says/does things he's not supposed to. I'm like "Aiden! *giggle* You can't say that! *smile* Say ___ instead." haha

That's probably why he doesn't listen half the time

What does polite company mean? lol Like in front of people?

I swear like a trucker 24/7 I personally dont see anything wrong with words, cause to me they are only words. My kids know they cant use them at school although my oldest does say goddamit at school and they never said anything about it being a swear word. So IDK.

My kids say much worse when they sing along to their fav songs in the house nothing is edited here.

goddamit to me isn't that bad compaired to things people say in our neighbor i would rather LO say that.
my mom gets all pissy when chloe says jesus a lot.
I am not religious at all , in anyway shape or form and so it doesn't bother me.
of course LO has said smurf because,   i would rather her say jesus then smurf when shes cranky/pissed off then swear words.

Shes little and so when she says a swear its shocking and i c ant help but turn the other way and try not to laugh, my sister thinks its awesome i dont yell at LO, i just tell her its a naughty word and its for grown ups. She usually doesnt say it again unless i laugh at her.

I think hell and GD are questionable. I personally consider them curse words but I know people that are not religious and see nothing wrong with it. Hell to me isn't bad if they are talking about hell (that's always how it was when I was growing up. I could ask about hell but couldn't say what the hell)

Like, if you were at a job interview and you dropped your pen you wouldn't say goddammit, lol. Or at least, most people wouldn't. And, you said they know not to use them at school.

We don't listen to music that has a lot of swear words in it here, so theres not much opportunity for them to pick up words like that. Well, DH does listen to stuff like that sometimes, but I don't.

No, it's definitely not as bad as some of the other things they could say.

I don't yell either. I just tell him that's not a word that he should be using. I like to give him other funny exclamations to say instead though. They're more fun anyway.

I agree that hell is questionable. For me, it just depends on how you're using it. Like, I've said things like "Yeah right, when hell freezes over", but I don't say "What the hell is wrong with you?!" Unless I'm really mad anyway.
