Termination of Rights
posted 23rd Oct
So I'm technically not a single parent anymore since DD considers DH her dad....but we are in the process of getting BD's rights terminated so DH can adopt her and we can change her last name (a rant on that is coming up next!). Here's my question. We have a Guardian at Litem coming next Saturday to meet me and DD in our home. Any other moms go through this? What happens? Do they ask DD questions? I'm not concerned, and DD knows it needs to be done to get her name changed, but I was hoping to at least have an idea of what's going to happen. I didn't want to ask the lawyer on the phone today in case it would look bad. Thanks

There's nothing wrong in asking what the process will be and what to expect, it won't reflect negatively on you. But I do hope you realize that it is very very difficult to get a parents rights terminated.

This. Unless BD wants to give up his rights or he has abandoned the child its pretty much next to impossible
