Birth with love oral Vit K

posted 23rd Oct
Just a question.. Does anybody know about the dosage for the oral K-quinone for newborns? I bought it from Birth With Love online, their dosage says 1 drop a day for the first week and twice a day for the next 11 weeks.

Also.. Does anybody know if it's safe for me to take in the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy , and how much I would take?

I have a midwife and because nobody sells it here in Canada, she said she can't tell me what dosage and it's up to me to find out. So I'm at a loss..

It's a dosage of natural vitamin k. I was asking because my midwife won't give me advice on it and I was wondering if anyone else has a had experience and what their midwife suggests.

i dont care WHAT it is, or if its "natural" I would not be giving my newborn something i didnt know the proper dosage of. why wont your midwife tell you? call the damn pediatrician woman..

you understand you can overdose and KILL your newborn with vitamins right?

Well I ordered it online so I'm not just going to throw it away and not use it. I guess my midwife doesn't feel like she has the right to give advice when we don't even sell it around here.

They jam newborns with the Vit K shot when they're born, so please tell me what is so awful about giving your newborn vitamin K orally? From what I understand it is a much lower dose, even giving 1 drop at birth which is 2 mg. Most pages I have read say 1 drop at birth, then 7 days old and 28 days.. I don't want to give it to her without medical advice but nobody (meaning doctors/midwives) wants to give me any ?

Obv. Shes not telling your for a reason. Maybe b/c your not suppose to give it to your baby. Your a moron and are going to kill your child b.c of an overdose.
Mother of the year right here! Also doc's give them shots b.c the went to school and know the correct dosage. If your that hell bent on giving it to her get your ass out and talk with a doctor to get a correct dosage if there even is one... Jezzzz.

you're smurfing retarded. they "jam" newborns here with vit k for a reason, try looking it up. also doctors know the right dosage to give a newborn. you're talking about giving this drug for weeks.... 11 weeks you said... that's just crazy, and on top of that you have no clue how much to give your baby!

heaven forbid you order something online and not use it right? jeez. so glad you're more concerned with wasting money than the health of your newborn baby.

asking for dosage charts online, on a site frequented by a lot of young teens, and a majority of woman who have their baby in the hospital... yeah, mother of the year award goes to you!

If your worried about you baby getting the shot you can always opt not to have the shot. None of my kids ever got the vitamin K shot. If you have a family history of not clotting then get the shot. babies naturally clot there own blood by 7-8 days after birth. Its never a good idea to give your child something that the medical professionals don't even know the proper dosage of.
