It was awesome that they gave me the training I needed to start an actual career. But, I was required to work for them for 2 years. Before the 2 years was up I knew I couldn't handle it. It's so emotionally draining.

a lot of it has to do with where you live, the cost of living there, transportation, education, and the minimum wage also is not always the same. Do you receive any type of assistance? if not, you should. there's a lot of help and ressources out there, you just have to find out about it depending on where you live.

Child support isn't for YOU, it is for your child.

I live in California and I will be working 40 hours a week at 10.95 an hour and its still not going to be enough for me to do it on my own. Good luck :/

Oh, I bet. Social work is what I want to do and that's a great way to get experience.

you can do it! I have been doing it for three years without CS...I just bought us a condo to live in..I work in medical billing.

That's great! What exactly do you do in medical billing?

I had a good job but they down sized my dept. now I am living off unemployment which is 858 every 2 weeks and I'm going to school for CNA classes. I want to be a mental health tech in a hospital or a phelobotomist. It's hard money goes soo quick with a 2 yo. I started getting my cs which is $84 every 2 weeks. Do you girls every get supper anxious over money food and gas? Or do you have hope that everything will be ok?

Hi there! I'm a single mom. I make about $1500. /month with no support. I live with my parents cuz i live in a big city where minimum rent would be $900 for a place for me and my son in a good area. im in alot of debt now. Can't afford rent too.

The medical billing is a course you can take at a community college its about 6-8 week , maybe longer. You get a certificate . If you need money asap start waiting tables. You will get hired on the spot if they're hiring and you get cash everyday. Good luck!

i was a single mom with a kid on welfare.. they gave me cna training (i was on it just a few months) within 3 weeks of passing the CNA test (a semester long) i had a job a month after that they cut my welfare.. i was making 9.40/hr here in ca.. i gave up alot . i gave up living in the nicest nieghborhood.. i gave up my friends and buying new clothes for me (i still have clothes from 7 or 8 years ago) and i gave up eating alot of times to make sure my daughter had clothes or diapers or formula... while i was busting my ass to buy her xmas my ex was doing drugs then telling me i was a bad mom..

you find a way. you give up alot.. you put your pride aside..
