i don't know if this is true or not, but i heard that if you apply for assistance they will go after whoever the father is and make him pay child support?

No. They will go after him if he is on the application. The state doesn't want the burden of paying for your child without the help of both parents.

If he is on the assistance application, they will make the both of you complete the work requirements, in Georgia.


If he was not on the application, only you would have to meet the work requirements and he would be obligated to pay whatever amount they gave you back.

nno they won go after him if hes on the applacation my daughters dad is on ours and they wont go after him because hes in the same house hold.

they will go after him if he's on the application and has a job. they figure his family,his responsibility or if he's on the child's birth certificte because they will ask you who the father is and expect you to cooperate with child support. If both of you are to be on the app and only making the bare minimum they may still help .

Thats why cause he is making a honest attempt, but your considered limited resources. I know quite a few people having hard times (layoffs,cant find work,graduates) that need assistance. And if your in school it also qualifies within the work category I think too.
