My mother is a thief.

posted 22nd Oct
I don't mean pocket a chocolate bar every once in a while thief either. I mean, every single time she goes into a store she fills her smurfing purse. I avoid going anywhere with her, I'm not willing to risk her getting caught with me and my child there. She doesn't care who she is with she will steal regardless, even if she has my little brother and sister with her. It would be different if it was ONLY things they needed to survive, but it's not. Most of it is stupid smurfing smurf that she doesn't need... 1$10,000 worth of scrapbooking stickers and smurf (not an exaggeration) ummmm she will go to a dollhouse store and steal a thousand bucks worth of miniatures at a time (not an exaggeration). She wants a 150 track suit? Shoves it in her purse. If it is food and stuff for the kids its always smurfing chocolate and candy
Her 'shopping' is her going into a store, spending ten dollars and stealing a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise. It's not just her either, my step dad does it too. They both are unemployed and instead of trying to get work they both collect welfare checks and steal to survive. It's smurfing disgusting how lazy they are. I'm ashamed to call them my parents. When I was pregnant with my daughter my step dad got caught stealing at Walmart and because I was with him in the parking lot leaving the store (even though I wasn't with him when he was stealing) I almost went to jail... 38 weeks pregnant, at 9pm.. on Christmas eve. Now before you say why don't you say something to them about it I can't my mother is emotionally abusive and has been my whole life. She is smurfing crazy!!! If I ever said something she would probably try to take my child from me.. I'm not smurfing kidding either she has threatened for less things. So instead I just avoid going out with them (actually I avoid them altogether) as much as humanly possible. I don't think its right for her to keep getting away with it all the time though and I want her to learn her lesson. I hate that she teaches my baby siblings that stealing is okay. You don't know how badly I hated being pregnant because every smurfing day whenever someone was around she would go up to her room, grab a big bag of baby smurf that she STOLE and brag to everyone "look what I bought my grandbaby.. my grandbaby is going to love their nanny because I'm always going to take it shopping and spoil it rotten" Always trying to show me up and make herself look so good, oh if only people knew. I'll be damned if those stolen clothes ever touch my child's skin. And I'll be DAMNED if she ever takes my kid 'shopping'. I can't have my child thinking that 'shopping' is putting smurf in your purse. Ugh it makes me sick wish they would both get off their lazy smurfing asses stop stealing and get smurfing jobs. I wish there was a way for me to make sure they get caught, beause they both need to learn their smurfin lesson. Oh and it's not just stores.. I can't have her at my house because there have been too many times I've went to her house after her being at mine and I will see a pair of my DH's shoes there, or a few of our movies, or my clothes. She seriously has a problem and needs help for it. She used to be a drug addict but now that she is recovering, she has turned to this. Is there a rehab program for thiefs?

So why don't you just cut them out of your life?

Let her try and take the baby. Unless YOU are an unfit mother, she doesn't have a leg to stand on

Next time they are going "shopping", call in an anonymous tip to the manager of the store.

i'm pretty sure they have therapy programs for that, the best bet would to be not to hang out with her anymore. But, just call around and explain or google?

I would definitely stay away from them. You're right in feeling that she is not an influence you want around your child. Kudos to you mama.

This sounds like something totally different....they are not doing it because they have a compulsion to do it, they are doing it because they keep getting away with it.

Cut them out of your life. She can't take your kid from you unless you are not doing right by your child.

Kleptomaniac.

Usually they'll steal like anything, not just stuff they want though, it's a compulsion not so much out of greed.

Yeah which is why anyone does it...And then it turns into a real problem. The more you get away with it then the more you do it. I think anyways. Maybe they dont have that problem it was just a suggestion though.
