There are three forms of torticollis 1) a tilt 2) a turn or 3) a combo of both.

1) the head seems to pull tilt, ear to shoulder and it might cause pain or discomfort to stretch the neck to position the head in the middle.

2) the head is turned to one direction or the other, left or right and it positioned that way all the time. You might notice in pictures LO's head it face one direction or the other all the time. On the back or on tummy time.

With torticollis the head is not in proper alignment. The neck muscles are short on one side. So there are stretches you can do to help with rotation and muscle strength.

With my son he has 3). He just went through a growth spurt so it's pretty obvious again. Anyway when he was a baby and we first started PT the first things the PT had us do was have him face away from the tv or the family activity so he was forced to turn his head to see what w going on a couple or few times a day. And the second was having him in our lap facing us, his feet toward our belly in a reclined supported position with one hand on his lower back for stability and the other hand behind his head gentle turning out of the turn and tilt in a good straight line from head to bottom. Just 10 seconds at a time. He would get pissed. And we aimed to do that. 5-7 times a day, every day.

PT is physical therapy. Also, the thing that I noticed was a bit of a flat spot, not all the other things when I got him elvaled.

DD has it really bad, they think its starts to mess up the symmetry of her face :/

From experience, I suggest tou bring it up with her Dr when you can, I wish we had realized the permanence of it back then. We focused so much on her other issues and now it's gotten really bad, she doesn't even crawl right because of it.

If you want I can post a video on my YouTube of all the stretches they have taught us and send you the link. The good thing about stretches is that even if nothing is wrong, they won't really do any damage.

Is it making one cheek more puffy than the other?

I post videos of D's progress especially with her bing a preemie so I will post a vid and link you.
I can't find my camera cord so ill have to use crappy phone, FYI.

Now I'm assuming by looking at the pics of P that you think she's tilting to her left? D tilts to the right so on the video ill do both sides. I'll try to get a vid of tonight's stretches, if not tomorrow for sure.

Also is one side of her head flatter than the other?

That and the angle of her chin or something! Also her eyes and ears seem to be off, but just like the tiniest bit, so far. :/. We are going to start intensive therapy soon I'm hoping

Eyes and ears?
My son has a puffy cheek that seems to be getting better and his lil elf ear from when he was wedged in my pelvis that never went away. It's a lot smaller than the other one too. I'm jut curious because I never met someone who said facial features were off like my son so I'm curious.

DD was without any therapy for 2 months while we moved. The new people pointed stuff out to me and then I googled it...mistake obviously. I don't know how noticeable it is because honestly I'm trying not to freak about it until she sees a specialist for it.

Aww, DD has funky ears because of her misshapen head do to a couple factors. Is he seeing anyone for his neck?

He goes to physical therapy not so much for the torticollis anymore although they do treat that too. It has gotten better. He's been in therapy since 2 months old and he is now 13 months, so almost a year  Anyway, he just went through a growth spurt so it's more noticeable than his has been at the moment, because we need to restretch those muscles out with the spurt. But, he's mainly being seen for weakness on the right side and a general motor delay.

Don't freak out. You have the exercises and things to do with her. And that's the most imortant thing. The therapist will probably only see her for a day or two a week and it's the in between times that really matter.

What are the couple of factors for her ear?

Oh ok, we'll good they still help a bit for it. Have you brought up his cheek to anyone?

Before we moved DD was seeing an OT, PT and a developmental specialist.
I feel bad because I think we were focusing soo much on getting her to overcome her eating issues, rolling over/crawling and cognitive delays that torticollis didn't seem as important. Everyone kept telling me she would grow out of it and that if she crawled it would fix itself.
Now I have a baby who crawls all messed up and makes her neck worse. It's like i screwed up my kid cause we had to decide which thing was more important

Anyways, her ears are messed up I think cause of being a micro preemie, head side preference in the nicu, misshapen head due to torticollis.I even asked a Dr about pinning them when she was a bit older but they are improving.
