Scared I'm going to have him early

posted 20th Oct
First off I'm 34 weeks and 4 days today...
so Thursday I went to see my dr. She was out of town...anyways I was contracting every 4 minutes... had to see another ob in the practice...she hooked me up to the monitors and I had to lay there for an hour in a quiet room while they monitored me... The nurse came in ..asked if i'd sat up ...or moved..which I hadn't...my contractions were getting up in the 90s on the little machine (I don't know what's high tbh)...anyways they send me up to l&d to be monitored more and I drank tons of water and apple juice...
they ended up giving me tributeline (spelling?)..which didn't stop them... so she checked me and continued to monitor..checked me again, said very small to no change so they let me go home with instructions of no sex, no strenuous activity.... didn't say bed rest....

anyways so I have to see my ob first thing this week...

Now I'm worried b/c I had my son at 36 weeks and I have still been having some contractions...some really painful some not so much...but none really timeable anymore that I've noticed...

okay now to the point.... what can I do to keep my body from going into pre-term labor? sounds silly , but I have a three and a four year old, and I'm not even CLOSE to being ready for this little boy...I need to get clothes washed, cloth diapers prepped, and all that good stuff...

I know you aren't doctors...I just need tips! More fluids maybe? I don't know- I'm just so nervous he's going to come too early... so I guess this is kind of a vent... I'm sure if they were THAT worried they'd have kept me or put me on strict bed rest..I just don't trust it b/c my ob wasn't there...ugh...

if I were you id try to sit on my butt as much as possible and do nothing. if nothing else you're not over doing anything and gravity isn't pushing the baby down

Drink more fluids and lie down as much as possible. But if baby is going to come nothing is really going to help much to stop it. And the numbers on the monitor don't really mean anything. The numbers vary greatly by where the monitor is placed, how tight the straps are, etc. The monitors only really detect if you are having one and how long it lasts, as well as if baby's heart rate responds appropriately.

I'd say tons of water and rest. Make sure your bladder stays empty because it can cause contractions. Try and keep your pelvis elevated as high as possible so that he doesn't come down anymore.

that makes me feel so much better though...

and this is almost exactly what happened about a week before I had my son... both my kids were early- and so I think I'm being extra paranoid this time b/c it is just TOO early kwim?

It's just hard to lay down all day ..my hips burn like no other when I lay for too long...

I think I'm just scared..

and he did really well...he had one deceleration, and then a few accelerations, but they said he was handling it well....

it can?

I didn't know that...

I just feel like he's already sitting lower than he was a week ago...

seriously I'm being one of "those" people right now b/c of all this...I am usually pretty go with the flow, but I'm truly worried...so hopefully my ob will have some good news this week.

Yep! I went into preterm labor at 33 weeks with my last. I had to get the shots also, which slowed the contractions down but they started back up again. So that's everything they told me to do when I was sent home. Then I ended up having her at 35 weeks. She didn't need NICU time. She had a little trouble feeding but got the hang of it after a 12 hours.

What I did was drink lots, lie down frequently, didn't have sex or do any lifting, didn't grocery shop (that was a trigger for me every time)and did relaxation exercises
