sex offender working at local gas station
posted 20th Oct
So there is a sex offender working at the gas station I work at.
This was brought to my attention by a customer.
So naturally I went to watchdog to see of he really was, and to my surprise he is.
It happened in 2006. & it says 4th degree sexual assault, and that the victim was in the age group of 0-13.
Is this okay?
I asked my manager and age days it happened a long time ago in Minnesota, so there's really no cause for alarm.
Opinions ladies?

There is no law of not hiring Sex offenders at gas stations so obviously it is okay.

Why does it matter? If you see him do someone inappropriate then call the cops. Otherwise, leave the poor guy alone. You don't know the whole story.

I wouldn't get to know him personally but people have to make a living some how.

Well, he needs to work....
better a gas station than a daycare or school, don't you think?

We shouldn't be so quick to judge someone. Typically a sex offender can only not be employed working with children, it's just a gas station.

If it's not near a place that is off limits to him, like a school then it's fine. You can choose not to go there any more if you want but unless we put them on an island most jobs they can get are going to be in a public setting.

I'm sure a lot of them work at a lot of different places. You'd never know unless someone told you or you looked there name up.

what is the problem with him working at a gas station?
quoteposted 20th Oct
I wouldn't be worried unless he does something that gives you a reason to be paranoid toward him. if it was a long time ago it could have been he was a young teen and did something stupid and is now paying for it for the rest of his life being a labeled perv. never know :/

It's a gas station, not a preschool! Where is he supposed to work if he can't even work at a gas station?
quoteposted 20th Oct
The fact is people need to be rehabilitated back into society and to do that he needs to contribute to society if he is not allowed then he may resort into a permenant life of criminality. He committed a sex offence, against a young person it would appear so obviously isn't allowed to work directly with children. A gas station wouldn't come under that so what is the issue? Wouldn't you rather he was working in a gas station where he is basically in constant view of the public rather than a setting where he could access children privately?
