just need to vent....

posted 20th Oct
hey everyone, i just gave birth to my first child, a boy, on 10/17. I'm so happy to be a mom, its something I've always wanted, but now that I am, I dont know if I can handle it. Maybe its the sleep deprivation talking, but it's so much harder than I thought it would be (not that being a parent is easy by any means). I guess I thought that by reading about pregnancy and parenthood everyday for the past 9 months would prepare me but it's totally different than what I expected. I'm not saying it's all bad, it's just very very scary. I keep telling myself that it'll get better as he gets older, and most of the time it works. I just feel so horrible for feeling this way because I've dreamed of being a mom for so long, and now that I am I'm so scared. Is anyone else feeling this way???

It's normal mama. Soon you'll get into a swing and it will work out. Nb are always changing so it's hard to get used to it for some people. Try to get some sleep that will really help

It's normal, hun. That's why they always say you never know until you really do it!

But, be patient with yourself. Baby is only 3 days old! It will take time to adjust. And parts will get easier as you get used to this new role in your life.

First off congratulations! Secondly, it has only been three days? It is a lot to get used to so don't feel bad! And try not to be scared. You are his Mommy and he is just trying to let you know what he wants. Try to nap when he naps... I know a lot of people have said this to me and I never do it. But if he cries a lot or if you have a busy schedule I would. Stay strong and if you are ever feeling like you need help ask someone close to you to help you so you can relax for a little bit. It is okay to ask for help!

its all still very new to you. just give it some more time, be patient, and take a break when you need it. everything will be fine.
it is hard, but it will get easier. you'll learn how you and baby work together, and things will start to go smoother over time.

good luck! and enjoy that baby while he's still little! he'll grow up before you know it.

I've been a mom for 5 years now and it isn't any easier than it was on day one. Different yes easier no. That is parenthood for you. You'll get use to it in time.
