clothes and my pump
posted 20th Oct
So I just got all the pieces for my pump (tubes membranes etc) and was 'testing' it out last night. I was wondering if I should bring it to the hospital bc I kind of want to be taught how to use it by the lactation nurse. I know they have one at the hospital but I want to learn how to use mine and make sure it is working properly etc.
Also with my first I only brought a coming home outfit for her and my boppy. I was wondering how many mommas brought clothes for the baby for the hospital? Did your hospital let you put the onsies on your baby?? I don't want to bring some and they don't let you do that. For example on halloween I have a my first halloween onsie and headband I want to take a picture of her in. And one for my oldest so they can have a picture together. And then my daughter got her a costume (with grandma) that she wants me to put her in just for the night so I can take a picture of them together in costume. But can I should I bring other onsies. Idk about the extra stuff I'm going to be a csection so that's 4 days in there. I just want her to look extra cute for visitors but idk how many hospitals say no. I've heard some do.

yes, you should be able to bring both if you want. At least at my hospital you can. I ended up buying my pump at the hospital and they taught me to use it. I also brought clothes and asked if it was okay to put her in them, and they told me "it's your baby, you can put whatever you want on her." lol

4days? Mine were 3 minimum. I always brought onesies n outfits. Nurses didn't mind but my 2nd got a horrible newborn rash from all the exposure to diff materials. I brought several things to take her pics in too. It was easier to use the hosp stuff though.

Yeah, 4 days =/ I was ready to discharge after 3 but she didn't get cleared until day 4 so I stayed they said usually 4 days although 3 would be nice then I could be out for halloween!!!
I want to have her in my room as much as possible so I don't think the outfits would interfear.

The hospital I delivered in preferred to keep the newbs in hospital gowns, just in case they needed quick access to something.
They let you put clothes on for pics, but not to leave them on

With my older two (delivered at the same hospital with them) I would dress them and the nurses would come in and change their outfits back to the hospital gown. I always told them to leave them alone but they insisted it was "warmer" my ass. They had a onesie and pants on...they chose a gown over that With our newest (different hospital) they let us dress her right after her first bath (in our room) and never said anything. She never left our room either except for her hearing test because the machine wouldn't fit in our door. As for c-sections, had them with all 3; the hospital with the two it was a minimum SEVEN days..ugh!!! But this hospital I just delivered at was a TWO day minimum. I had her Tuesday morning and was out Thursday a little after noon.
