I can't believe her!!

So I haven't talked to my MIL for a few weeks now which is weird because she usually calls me like everyday. Anyways my bf talked to her on Sunday, he was outside and I could hear him yelling at her, and then he hung up. When he came in he looked pretty upset, and I asked him what was wrong- he didnt want to tell me but I eventually got it out of him.

He saidhis momwas going on about how I was gaining too much weight and the reason they were going to test me for GD was because they were concerned about the weight! I'm like-- uhm everyone gets tested for GD. And, yeah I have gained weight, but I'm not like HUGE or anything, I've gained about 25 lbs   which is a lot but I've been eating relatively healthy- and I walk at least 5 days a week.I gained like 15 of it in the beginning I think becauseI quit smoking, had to quit taking my anxiety and pain medication which was all really difficult and my doctor saidit maay cause extra weight gain. And on top of everything else I was underweight when I got prego!

My MIL is always making comments about my weight, like "you really shouldn't eat that" or "all you eat is junk" which is NOT true. And she also goes on and on about how she only gained 20 lbs her whole pregnancy and doesnt have stretchmarks. Anyways I don't know what to do about this because its really starting to hurt my feelings, women are sensitive about their weight anyways, and its hard when there's not much you can do about it when you're prego...

Sounds like the woman hasn't got a clue.

theres 2 things you can do...avoid her, and be standoffish when your forced to see her...or write her a letter or e mail telling her how you feel. I wouldnt try talking becasue MIL's have this thing were they talk over you soon as they get pissed...in my experiences anyways

Just try to ignore her (as much as that is possible). It's awesome that you quit smoking. Yay for you! Your doing great.

If it makes you feel any better I ended up eating an entire bag of bite size Milkyway Caramels yesterday  
Tell her to shove her and her "what you can eat" attitude up her ass. If you were gaining too much your doctor would say so.

don't worry about it.i gained 77 pounds my first pregnancy and i was eating healthy and excercising as well.sometimes it just happens.
and they dont understand the GD testing because it never happened back then. both my MIL and my mother were questioning me about it the first time around until i got the doctor to explain to them that everyone gets tested now.

Man, thats sucks...what a B! Some women just cant handle the fact that they ARE ageing....its like they try to hold on to every last thing they have and rub it in everyones face. My grandma is kind of the smae way, but i dont think she means to be...u know. She is VERY skinny and always has been naturally. She had 3 babies and NO stretch marks...she just thinks she did it the perfect way. Little does she know, she was blessed with good genetics, yea I have SOME of her but not all! I got stretch marks....big deal. But the comments she used to make bothered me some....like comments about my weight. I lost it all now but i swear she thought it should have been sooner! Ugh, dont let her get to you, shit she probably just jealous...hehe

What a meanie! And to make comments about stretch marks is so stupid anyways! They're genetic and you can't do anything about it if you're gonna get them! Heck, with my last daughter I was the smallest, and she is the one that gave me a couple! That sucks that she says things like that, but it's awesome that your bf was upset by it too instead of siding with her.

yeah you're probably right about trying to talk to her, not that I want to anyways!! I'm such an avoider too~ I feel like just not talking to her for the rest of my pregnancy.

It would be different if it was my mom who made a comment like that- but my mom isnt like that she's supportive and understanding, how mom's are supposed to be!

I hate to say it, but that my dear is just the beginning.Then when you have the baby you will get ALL kinds of unsolicited advice, so my advice is to think of a strategy.Like if you want to be bitchy or direct say"I'm sorry I don't remember asking your opinion" or be nice and just smile and nod while having a secret swearfest in your head.You keep doing what your doing and just give MIL a big hug next time you see her and say"Thanks for caring but my doc and I are on top of things" then she may just shut up.Good luck!

yea the problem is your stuck with her bitchy ass...so if it bothers you to be at odds then you have to try..but writing it out is always best..you get everythign out and avoid the confrentation..let her know its important everything be in harmony for the baby
