which is better cloth diapers or normal diapers

posted 19th Oct
I know cloth diapers are cheaper in the long run but do they really hold the pee and poo in?? Or does it leak?

It's usually a little trial and error at first to find the fit, brands, types that work for you but cloth has been a God sent for us. My daughter's skin is so much clearer and healthier, she no longer fights diaper changes (they are so soft and clearly more comfortable), and since switching to cloth wipes and diapers a couple of months ago it's been awesome not running out to buy any in that moment of "crap! I'm down to 2!"... Instead, I just wash a load of diaper laundry!

I am using cloth diapers and they are waaay cheaper but they are a little more work. You can get a sprayer like on your sink that attaches to your toilet to spray the pee and poop off into the toilet before you put the diaper into your pail. Also there are all kinds of inserts for you to choose from like hemp, bamboo and fleece which are all great. They absorb really well and keep baby dry so that he or she doesn't get diaper rash. I don't recommend using microfiber because they tend to hold the amonia from pee even after washing and give horrible diaper rash. The prints that you can choose from are adorable as well and they are more eco-friendly. Also if you look up all of the cancerous chemicals in disposables that in itself will probably sway you towards cloth.

We found Cloth Diapers Leaked Less than Disposables, & When they Did it was not as Impressive.
Most Poops in Disposables ended up way up their backs, & down the Legs usually ended up needing New socks.
Worst with Cloth was a New pair of Pants or a Diaper shirt, literally just barely around the edges.

We Loved our Clothies, & will probably Cloth Diaper any other children we have, just like the 2 we have right now were.

welp cloth used to be considered "normal" diapers. Cloth leak less from what I have heard! Also they are better for the skin

Normal diapers as in disposables?   Cloth should be normalized lol.
Cloth is better than disposables, IMO. If you can do it, great. They help save money and the environment, and there's not toxic chemicals right against your LO's butt. I've never had poop explode out the sides in cloth either. My daughter peed and pooped right out of disposables.

Thank you see I didn't even know u had to put an insert in the cloth diaper, now they make a bit more since to me. Do you wash the insert to or is that a throw a way thing?

Well, there are a few different types. Some diapers are pockets- they have a pocket inside that you put inserts in and then take them out and wash it all after it's been used. Some are All-in-ones that you don't need an insert for but can use one just laid in if you have a heavy wetter or need better overnight protection. There are also flats/fitteds that are essentially your "diaper" but don't have any protective layer to keep pee in so you use a cover that wipes clean then you just put another fitted or flat in and reuse... Unlike AIO or pockets which are done after one change.

And if you use pockets, there are a variety of inserts you can try out to find what you like best. Some absorb more, leak less and are trimmer (hemp, bamboo) but absorb a little slower than say Microfiber which holds a good amount and absorbs quickly but is known for compression leaks. There are also bamboo/MF blends, Charcoal bamboo, and Zorb inserts. Lol kinda why I mentioned it can be trial and error but once you get into it it's a lot easier and less confusing.
