Possible clogged ducked? In pain :(

posted 19th Oct
Ive been in so much pain the past couple of days trying to BF my LO. He is a week old and eats every hour and a half to 2 hours. My left side is in so much pain and is a little red where it hurts. Can it be a clogged ducked and if so how do you get rid of it? I have never had one before! Bf on the left side is so darn painful but i cant turn my son down. Ugh.

lay him down and straddle him and put your boob in his mouth. his sucking and gravity will unclog it. also hot water on it and hand express in shower. if it gets worse you will need antibodics and the docs will try to tell you to not feed him from that side or stop breastfeeding. its a lie dont listen nurse nurse nurse!

You need to nurse/pump on the side thats blocked! WHen hes nursing you need to press/apply pressure on the spot that hurts so that it will help to unblock it. You can try rubbing it when hes not nursing, milk may come out but thhats good. Also hot compresses will help it feel better. If it gets too bad you may have to get pills from a Dr for it!

Take a nice warm bath, as warm as you can stand it, and soak your breasts. Try to express milk with your hand or use a pump that isnt electrical in the bath.

Then RIGHT after the bath nurse your son and only offer that one side, massaging the duct. You need to get that unclogged or yo can get an infection.

thanks ladies, I do hope this goes away soon. Its so painful to feed him with, but he eats so frequently i am surprised i have it! If its still hurting in a couple of days should i see my OB again?
