Visitation issue
posted 18th Oct
My son is four and has only seen his father a handful of times because his dad has a drug problem and he's in a gang. Well he just got out of jail and wants to see Rafael. He claims that he is only smoking weed which I have no problem with as long as it isn't around Rafael. He wants to start seeing him more and bring him to meet his family. I'm not sure what to do. I want Rafael to know his dad but I just don't trust him. I was thinking he could just come see rafael at my house for a few months until he can prove to me that he's changed and isn't involved in the gang anymore...but I'm so scared that rafael will get attached to him and then he disappears. What would you do?

Is he on the birth certificate? DO NOT let him take your son without court-ordered visitation in place. Make sure you've got your legal bases covered. Having him come over to get to know his son would be a good idea.

He is on the birth certificate but I am definitely not letting him take him anywhere!
