I don't blame you. It has its downside but overall, it's not a bad deal.

My mom actually prefers being a single mom and life is SO less stressful for her, financially and emotionally, without my father. He was a complete ass who dragged her down.

Single motherhood, I can only say from second hand experience, is tough, but so does being in a crappy relationship with an SO who is inactive in terms of parenting.

I don't ever want to get married, but that doesn't mean I don't want to be a parent either. If I hit twenty-eight and haven't found a good guy (which is quite likely since most men suck ass), then I'm going to a sperm bank. I'm not waiting on Mr. Right or settling for a Mr. Right Now. I live by my own time and own rules.

Very true.
Ideally there would be an equal partnership but if that's not the case, I'd rather be single.

I love being a single parent because we get twice times the love for our LO's but at times, it's very hard...I don't even remember the last time I took a shower ALONE. lol

Sorry I read the comments first. Too me its not the sharing (which Im glad I dont have to do) its the fact that I get to make all the decisions when it comes to my sons life (shots, food, clothes etc). Not only that I learn alot. I make mistakes as most FTM's do and I learn from it. When something happens I can recover from it without being reminded all the time or being yelled at about it.

oh yea and LESS LAUNDRY

I'm not a single mom, but some days it feels like it, especially now that I am working... I have 3 kids (10, 5, & 9 months) and DH just had hip surgery and is recovering, so now I have 4 kids (I'm the one working, feeding, bathing, running errands, Dr. appointments, homework, school events, waking up with DD, taking care of DH, paying all the bills, cooking, cleaning, etc all on my own with no help and no breaks).. it's hard getting used to after being a SAHM for 5 years but I do enjoy it. I'd say the best part for me is seeing their faces as they all come to greet me when I get home from work... lots of hugs and kisses and they are all mine (the kids never really had the chance to "miss" me and me miss them)... at least for now until DH can go back to work. But even if he does go back to work, assuming the surgery helps, I think I'm going to keep this job. I enjoy being a SAHM but now that I'm working and away from them 10 hrs a day, I get to enjoy the time we do spend together more and I'm not as stressed out anymore.
