Maternity leave resources

My best friend just found out our job doesn't offer paid maternity leave. She really can't afford to go 4-6 weeks without pay since it's her third kid. What other resources are out there to help her for the time being? (She's not due till March, so this isn't an immediate issue)

She'd appreciate any ideas.

Does she HAVE to take 4-6 weeks, a lot of people go back sooner then that.

If she doesn't have to she won't. She's an LNA though, so we're constantly on the go. She may also need a c-section depending on her placenta previa

Oh I know at hour job if you are not eligible for FMLA/Maternity Leave they give you the option for short term and that pays.

my job doesnt offer paid maternity leave but my state offers disability which is 40% for 6-8 weeks post partum and however much the dr determines you need prepartum.. plus my state will also pay 6 additional weeks of baby bondingso you get 12 weeks post.. and the take the highest 40& in a period over a 16 month period with me it would be about 900 a month.. which is good since SO has a decent job

My job doesn't offer paid leave either (I work in a nursing home) this is my my second pregnancy with this job and I personally began adding to my vacation time, such as instead of taking my 80 hour check, I would take 72 hours and put 8 hours into my earned vacation time. Last pregnancy I saved up 120 hours so that I could take six week s off at half pay (40 hours per biweekly check for 6 weeks- 3 checks)

i get 10 days a vacations and 10 days of sick days paid (which comes out to a month off) but i use my vacation and sick time here and there ill take state disability since gregs job can support us finicially with out stress.. after bills are paid we still have about 1200 left over a month and with my disability ill get 900 a month for 3 months after baby

We only get 4 sick days a year, one personal day, and about a week vacation. She's already had to use some though.
