Infant Movement/breathing monitor

posted 18th Oct
Has anyone else looked into purchasing a movement/breathing monitor? I have a friend who lost his daughter to SIDS a few years back and with my first child that was my biggest concern.
The monitor is supposed to detect lack of movement/breathing and set off alarms to alert the parents.
I've read really good reviews on them on Amazon but I haven't seen any posts here of people who've purchased them.

I'm getting one just for ease of mind.
I don't know what I'd do if I didn't get one because I didn't want to shell out the extra $100 and then my daughter died of SIDS, kwim?
This is the brand I'm going with:

My friend has one and she loves it. Just sometimes when she gets him out of bed she forgets to turn it off and the alarm could be heard through out the whole house!

That's the same brand we're getting. This wasn't around when I had my son and I'm so happy to see it's now an option. None of them seem to have standards on the thickness of the crib mattress. I'm hoping that a it will work with a standard crib mattress

I'm sure it will. I heard that they're super sensitive so hopefully the thickness of the mattress wont be a big deal. You could always test it out by turning it on with no baby in the crib & see if it goes off. If it doesn't work I'm sure you could get your money refunded and find something that works for you. It's just totally worth it to me. If I wasn't getting one I'd be standing over her crib a million times a day to check on her breathing lol
