I think I'd at least give it a shot and try for a vaginal. regardless of what my doc thinks.

I think I'd try for the vaginal delivery. If it isn't happening they can always do a C-Section.

There is no way I wouldn't least try for a vaginal.

Try for vaginal before opting for a c-section. I had to have a c-section because my daughter was breech. C-section recovery is not fun and they are much more risky than a vaginal delivery.

No way, I would tell that doctor where to go. In most cases your body will not grow a baby that is too big for you to deliver. You can't tell whether or not your pelvis is too small until well into labor, unless you have a pelvic deformity or rickets. Ultrasound measurements can also be way off. It sounds like your doctor is trying to scare you into a c-section and is setting you up for failure. If you want to avoid c-section do not get induced and stay away from the hospital until you are well into active labor. Sorry if I sound harsh, I just hate that doctors still do this to women.
eta: my daughter was 10 lbs 2 oz.

i would weigh the pro's and con's with your DR....my Dr. basically told me the same thing when i was carrying DS#1 but we went through with the induction anyway...i still ended up with a c-section for other reasons but you wont know until you try...at least if you are induced you will already be at the hospital if there happens to be any complications

yeah true but the thing im worried bout is he said if i go ahead with being induced then i could be there with no food for 18hrs or so if i wind up not having the c section. i think im gonna go with the induce and if not progress or nothing then ill have to do c section

I would get a new doctor, your doctor can not predict how long you're going tk be in labor. He is using scare tactics to get you to have a section on his time so he doesn't have to deal with you as a patient. What a shame.

i wouldn't worry too much about not being able to eat...there will be so much going on and they will be pumping you so full of fluids during the induction you won't even notice...lol...Good Luck girl i hope it all works out well for you.

My doctors did an ultrasound 10 days after my due date, said the baby measured 7#11oz... it was actually how we figured I was 10 days late. I got induced 2 weeks after my due date and the baby was 9# 11 OZ and I went through hell. Over 60 stitches, 3rd degree tears and lacerations.... they didn't know she was going to be that big and made me keep pushing. They took away my epidural cause they thought I wasn't pushing hard enough and that's why I tore. I had a HUGE ass baby tear me open. Well needless to say after my experience, a 6 week recovery time until I could pee right and 6 months before sex felt comfortable and didn't make me bleed.... I'm getting a c-section with this next kiddo. If you want to try vaginally first make them keep you on pain medicine! That's the only way I'd do vaginally again but since I'm still having problems 2 years after my first birth, I'm not gonna risk it this time. If something doesn't feel right...SPEAK UP in the delivery room. That's my greatest mistake.

= I had a 10 lb 2 oz baby at home with no pain medication. I barely tore at all and it was due to scar tissue from a previous episiotomy. I personally would never want to risk major surgery without at least giving my body a chance, With that said you don't even know that your baby really is that big, ultrasounds can be way wrong.
