Quoting Chels Palmer:" I would get a new doctor, your doctor can not predict how long you're going tk be in labor. He is using ... [snip!] ... is using scare tactics to get you to have a section on his time so he doesn't have to deal with you as a patient. What a shame."

I had a 9.9 when I was 15yrs and tiny b4. Got stitches but labor / pushing out were easy. By the way I was induced. So I would try vaginal first. Csection recovery is not fun. GL mammas

I tried to VBAC but my body never went into active labor. I had an ultrasound at 38 weeks and they estimated my daughter at 8lbs7oz and she was born via c-section 1 day before my EDD. She ended up weighing 10lbs2oz. After I had her my OB said it was best they did a c-section because I would have ruptured my uterus at the previous c-section incision. Obvious my body knew best and that's why I didn't go into active labor. Trust your body it will make the decision for you. Good luck Mama!

Also I was induced twice. Both went good but everyone is different. I had a csec with my 3rd but that was scheduled due to some risk with my diabetes.

I had a c section with my first for this exact reason. Doctor induced me for a big baby it failed and boom c section. It was terrible. Not only was I in a lot of pain but I didnt bond with my son because I could not take care of him. He was 10lbs 11oz. I felt like a failure. Like I was broken. I refused to have more kids.

Then I learned about VBAC's and I interviewed ob's and midwives with my youngest son. I choose to have a home birth and it was the best experience of my life! Labor was so much better without pitocin. I could eat and drink and do whatever I wanted. It was such an amazing experience. My second son was born after 15 hrs of labor at 12lbs 4 oz. I am only 5'3 and 110 lbs. I didnt tear because my midwife support my bottom while I pushed. If you educate yourself now you can birth this baby and have a great experience. There is not reason your body cant give birth.

Your doctor is giving you his suggestion. Why ? Because its easier for him to section you then you wait around while you are in labor. You dont have to be induced either. My best advice to you is to watch the Business of Being Born right now on netflix or on youtube. DO what is best for your baby. An induction without a medical reason and an elective c section are not what is best for your baby.

Good luck I hope you do your research and make the best decision for you and your family!

with my son I was induced a week after my due date, I was in labor for 19 hours and only dilated 4 cm, my water did not break so the nurses broke my water and it still didn't help and I ended up having an emergency c section due to these and other issues. I was exhausted from being in labor and in pain from the c section and my son (who they thought was actually a girl) was 2 pounds larger than my doctor had estimated, the point is its nearly impossible to to guess an accurate weight from sonograms. Do what you feel comfortable with and make sure whatever you decide to do your doctor and family members that will be with you in the hospital know what your birth plan is so they can help you stick to it as much as possible.

Quoting Christine Frye:" my doctor says my baby weighs 9lbs and 3oz. and my pelvis is to small for her to come out he was going ... [snip!] ... going to induce next wed nite but think its a waste of time and he would have to do c section anyhow!!! what do yall think??"

I had a C-section because I was high risk the entire time during my pregnancy, although I personally wanted to go the natural route....
My sister is actually having a planned C-section for her son, and I was just wondering is it possible to have her SO cut their son's umbilical cord?
My doctor did not let mine, he was skeptical about having my SO in the room also, will it be the same for her?
