epidural side effect?
posted 18th Oct
4 weeks pp and since giving birth I keep getting a shooting pain up my neck. A couple of times it was when I moved my head kinda fast but now it's just happening randomly. Could this be because of the epi? And is it worth mentioning to my doctor?

Yeah, it's pretty common actually.

I had horrible back/nerve pain... I thought I reherniated my disk for a couple of months. Thankfully it went away. I didn't even want the epi (got it at hour 48 of labor...) but because of this pain, I will NEVER ask for it again... Hope you feel better.

My lower back was sore for a long, long time.
I had terrible back labor, but I thought it was from the epidural.
It went away on it's own.
Like PP said it's somewhat common.
I would mention it to your doctor, though.

do you BF? also highly likely from positioning of how you sit when you feed your LO.

Ahhh okay thanks for your comments and I breastfed for the first two weeks but not anymore (milk supply dried up due to stress sigh) and I got horrible back pain when lo was feeding, no matter what position I tried. I didn't want an epidural either but after two days of agonising contractions I gave in because I seriously needed a nap lol.

When I got my epidural my heart rate dropped. I remember feeling so faint and just spaced out. I heard something about heart rate and was given an oxygen mask. My husband said to me later that it was because my heart rate dropped.
After the epidural I got shooting pains up my back. I had my daughter over a year ago and that spot where the epi went, I cant stand to have it touched. My husband rubs my back with the palm of his hands and it makes me cringe.
