BREAST PUMPING

posted 17th Oct
so I have to breast pump because LO is still in NICU .. ive noticed that one boob is bigger and always feels more full than the other but when i pump, the smaller boob gets about 20 ml MORE than the big boob. is this happening to anyone else? sometimes i have to pump the big boob exclusively for a while to reach the same amount as the small boob. and also HOW MUCH milk do you pump before you feel its empty and how long does it take??

When LO was in the NICU the first 8 days I just pumped for 15 minutes (each boob) no matter how much I got out.

i did that at first but then started pumping even longer because its taking about 30 minutes for one boob to get almost 2 oz and the other one only gettin about 40 ml

My twins are now 2 weeks old and I pump every 3 hours. The first week home it took me half an hour to get the same amount of milk that now only takes me 10 minutes.. But then I'm empty!

Try and pump consistantly like ever 2-4 hours. I had to start pumping for multiple reasons. My milk took a while to come in because I had a post partum hemmorage so I had to supliment until my milk came in and the little guy wont latch so I just pump now. I pump every 3-4 hours I did start drinking mothers milk tea to help it come in better as well. When it finally came in I wasn't producing much and I started drinking the tea and it slowly increased my right side does tend to produce about an oz or so more then the left though but on average I can get a total of 5-7 oz with each pumping and I pump for 20 mins.. I also have a double breast pump and have this special bra that I use so I don't have to hold the breast shields.
