pretty sure I'd know a bit better than you. It's called a work release and a judge can grant one to you as young as 15 if you are a parent or estranged minor in an alternate form of schooling.

I left to get a coffee last night and DD ran out of the house after me  

DH was in the bed watching TV. She went back in and when I got back she was all kinds of upset and wouldn't let go. She's NEVER that bad. I don't know why she lost her smurf like that.
