What would you do? Insurance Related

posted 16th Oct
So, DH and I decided when we got married that we would start trying on our 2 year anniversary. Well I lost my insurance a few months back and my work does not offer insurance just a type of "pay back" plan. Our 2 year anniversary is in 7 months and I still have yet to decide on a insurance, I live in Arkansas and in most of the insurance companies I have found you have to be paying on a maternity plan for a year, and I am trying my hardest to find an insurance company that doesnt require that, 1. because I am impatient and don't want to have to wait a whole year and 2. Because I am afraid of getting pregnant on accident before the year mark. I don't think that we would qualify for medicaid so I am not sure what to do. Have any of you ladies dealt with this? I am just not sure what to do. If i have to wait I will but we all know how we are when we get the baby bug! Thanks ladies!

1st of all: DON'T get pregnant w/o proper insurance! I just finished paying off my pregnancy that ended 10 months ago!

Do you have Kaiser near you? We just switched my hubby to Kaiser and I know their mat. coverage starts upon 1st payment so long as you conceive after enrollment.

We're still paying on the pregnancy that ended in July, and we have awesome insurance! Either way, it's expensive! But I could not imagine not having insurance, and having to pay that!

Check to see what your state will cover. Tennessee has a CoverKids policy that you can receive when you are pregnant maybe your state has something like that? It also covers your kid up to 18 for insurance.

That sounds like our Medicaid, but they go off of income and we make to much for it. Is that how Tennessee is?

Thankfully I got cash-paying discounts for everything and was able to set up payment plans w/ everyone I owed but yes, it wasn't ideal and I spent much time literally crying over it! I didn't even see a Dr. until 17 weeks! It all worked out though

No, not everyone is doing it.
And if you would read the thread, OP states that she makes too much for it.
