To do with weddings...need opinions/advice/help LOL

posted 16th Oct
My friend is getting married next month. I am a bridesmaid, my son is the ring bearer.(Husband will be attending as a guest LOL). Being a bridesmaid, and I'm just going to say that I'm not AT ALL being pissy about the cost, I have paid for my dress and alterations(which is alot because im pregnant lol), shoes, jewellery, hair, etc. Plus my sons suit, tie, shoes, etc. There are 7 bridesmaids. We held a social. For all those that dont know, a social is a fundraising event for the couple where the wedding party gets together silent auction prizes and theres dancing and food and drinking and all money raised goes to the couple. Average social raises about $5000-$10000 for them. This is a custom thing here. If a person didnt have a social, we wonder what the heck is wrong with them LOL. We also have put on a community shower(we are from a small small town, you get one whether you want it or not lol) baked 2 desserts and we each gave $30 for a hostess gift, a girlfriend shower/party we made all the food plus each $70 for a big gift. This weekend is the stagette. We are going to a high class spa, spending the night in the same hotel, going to the Keg Steakhouse for dinner and then out to a bar. Probably going to cost me around $300 if not a bit more when its said and done. Again, not mad about this at all just stating what we have done/paid for so far. For weddings that my husband and I attend, we usually give $100-$150 for presentation/wedding gift. I've never been in a wedding party before so I dont really know the "rules" about this. Should the wedding party be getting them a gift and then my husband do his own presentation, or are we responsible for a wedding party gift and presentation for us both? Im confused and dont want to seem like a cheapskate lol Any opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

No. You and your hubby don't need to buy two separte gifts. One gift from your family is sufficient.
If the bridesmaids are going in together on a gift then it is assumed your husband is "included" in that gift as well.

Well, you do weddings quite a but different there than we do, so idk... I've never heard of bridesmaids giving wedding gifts on top of paying for all that crap.

ok, thats kinda what i thought. so i guess i'll talk to the other girls and see what they want to do. I'd rather just give my presentation and be done with it to be honest lol but we'll see!
