Healing

I'm almost 3 weeks PP and am healing great. My stitches are gone ( I had a couple minor tears, nothing serious) and my bleeding has stopped for the most part. Just super light brown occasionally and I only have to wear a panty liner.

I took a look with a mirror, and I am surprised to see that it looks really normal down there. I have always heard such horror stories and not to look cause it is horrible. The only difference I see is that it's just "open" more. I know I'm only 3 weeks PP and I still need to heal. But how long until it starts going back to "normal?" It's my first. And how long should you wait to have sex? I know it's too early due to the risk of infection now, but do you really have to wait the full six weeks?

They recommend waiting to have sex until 6 weeks pp. Depending on the bleeding and how i was feeling down there, we had sex around 6 weeks. I think with my middle baby it was around 5 weeks pp. It's normally a little uncomfortable the first couple of times, but for the most part, everything goes back to normal within 3 months or so. Sometimes hormones can be a little out of whack for a bit afterwards, especially if you're pumping/breastfeeding. But even that settles down within the first 6 months or so.

Make sure you use protection of some sort unless you want to get prego again right away. lol
