lack of oxygen/ brain damage

Hello im a mommy to a beautiful Lil boy whos 7months he has severe brain damage from birth caused by lack of oxygen and a negligent medical staff and Dr ive had a really hard time dealing with it and excepting my sons condition regaurdless I love my son with all my everything but its really hard to stay positive nobody understands me or how I feel. Like I said my son is 7months but is at a neurological stage of a 0 to 3 month old baby he sees alot of drs and therapists, he crys all the time it seems like and I feel like im having a nervous break down sometimes. I just wish I could talk to people who have a understanding of what im going through. Does anybody else have a child who is like my son????

so sorry you and your baby boy have to go through this, sometimes it just seems so unfair. i dont have a child who is going through this so unfortunetly i dont have much advice but wanted to let you know i understand your frustration and feelings of worry. please remember to take care of yourself as your boy needs you to be healthy for him. I hope you can find some friends in your area or a support group you are able to vent with. good luck to you guys!

I don't have a child like your son but I do have a brother who is.

I'm sorry that happened to your son. My friend and her husband during her L&D at 41 weeks while in the hospital suffered the same thing, however, their daughter had severe brain damage that rendered her a "vegetable" that would require her to be on life support to keep her alive, and so they made the hard choice to not keep her on life support. It was very heartbreaking for everyone. I don't have any personal experience but just wanted to tell you that your DS looks adorable, don't lose any hope in him or yourself, he'll pull through it with you there beside him.

Thank you and I try to do the best I can ive looked for a support group but havent found one yet

my son had severe oxygen deprivation for about 5 hours at birth, his o2 sat was in the 30s until his atrial septostomy, thankfully tho, he doesnt seem to have any brain damage thus far.

How old is your brother now and how has he done in life with his brain injury?

What kind of disabilities was your child diagnosis with?

My son has cerebral palsy from an unknown cause, I know how stressful it can be. Feel free to talk to me if you ever need to vent or support.

Having a child who is handicapped and will be handicapped their whole lives is VERY hard to deal with.

Oh my im so sorry that things happened that way for your friend, my son was on life support as well but thank God he pulled through after a week n a half.. I never gave up hope even when the drs said he would be a vegetable and wouldnt do anything on his own I sat with him and never left his side still to this day I remain hopeful for him hes a fighter n I know he will keep showing the doctors wrong.. And thank u he is adorable

They said he was at high risk for cp but so far its just brain damage

He's 28, he has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, cognitive deficiencies and is legally blind.

For most of his childhood he walked and he even ran cross country and was on the wrestling team in high school. As an adult it's been rough because he also suffers some mental illness and he needs 24/7 care due to his cognitive level and epilepsy. He does work and goes to a day program that helps him socialize more.

we just went through something similar as a result of undiagnosed vasa previa.
one of her blood vessels ruptured, but her head compressed the vessel so she didn't bleed to death.. however, the lack of oxygen from the compressed vessel caused extensive damage to her brain. they tried to say it was a stroke in utero at first, and then I found out what actually happened.
she'll only be 7 weeks tomorrow, so we don't know yet how it's going to affect her.

hey sweetie, my son DID have a stroke. not in utero, but soon after birth, and he has what seems to be no cognitive delays from it at all. his left side is "behind" his right side, but he is going to OT for it and is still on target for all milestones   babies brains are so amazing at that age, that they can "fix" alot of damage, and make new pathways for neurons that adults cannot.

We just found out on Monday that our little man can have brain damage. He has been sleeping for the last eight days. they are unable to do a brain scan as he is still swollen to much. Your stories is so insperational. Thank you
